Quick 'Mom' Thought for the Day!

A Few Things I’ve learned as a Mom:

1. True or false:  If they can behave at school, they should be able to behave at home.   False
   
2. You are probably not tired because your life is bad; you’re exhausted from the effort it takes to keep it good!
   
3. Kids are complex – love them where they are and not for where you want them to be.
4. Let your kids fail so they can develop coping skills while the stakes are low.
5. Sometimes fear and anxiety come disguised as anger and willfulness.
6. Giving an explanation for bad behavior is different than giving an excuse.
7. Do not be a short order cook (The heavens opened up when I heard this tip from a Registered Dietician).  Cook one meal with at least one item that each person at the table likes so nobody goes hungry.
